A Sweet Toddler, a Wagon, and a Deer

… walk into a bar….. sounds like the start of a funny joke, but it turns out to be the makings of a great maternity session.    I adore this family!   I’ve had 4 wonderful opportunities this year to photograph them and I couldn’t help but fall in love with them.   It all started back in March when I meet this little guy during one of my Charity Model Search sessions.   Then fast forward to this Fall and I got to photograph the entire family in one of the best sessions I’ve ever had.    Just a few weeks ago, I was able to capture some wonderfully tender moments during her maternity session.   I adore this snuggly moment with Momma and son.    And lastly, we finished up our last session together just a few days ago with a newborn session <—– a little sneak peek coming soon!    It was cold, the ground was muddy, and the wind was blowing, but you couldn’t tell.

We ended our session that day over at the barn. We drove up and I instantly got excited to see deer running around. In the back of my mind, I was hoping and praying that I could get some sort of photo with the deer in it. We walked up and the deer scattered.
I was totally bummed. Oh well, maybe I’ll get a wide shot with the deer in the background. We posed a few shots here and there and then I had this beautiful Momma-to-be sitting in the hay for the last photos of the day. Out of the corner of my eye, I saw it! Yep! One brave lil’ deer came over to check us out. It was a little timid at first, but got braver and braver.   A few quiet moments passed and with a couple of scratches behind the ears, CLICK, bingo! Got it! How sweet is this? We tried and tried to get her toddler son to kiss her belly, but who would have thought that I could capture a deer kissing her belly instead.
