New Chandler Oaks Elementary ~ Round Rock Children’s Photographer

I don’t know who is more excited about school starting, me or the kids.

Gavin will be in 2nd Grade and Ashton starts Kindergarten. Taking care of my children, my husband, our house, our landscaping, my photography business, and lastly, as in most cases with Mommies, MYSELF, has been a challenge with summer. Nothing in my life gets 100% of my effort or time anymore. It’s very frustrating when the desire to be the best Mommy/Wife/Photographer/Friend is present, but being able to execute & deliver it, is sadly, yet another story. The only break I get is when school starts, and I relish it. For the first time in many years, a little over 5 years in fact, I will be down to 1 child during the day. Woooooo Hoooooo!

I’ve made a list of the things that will change once my boys are in school. (feel free to add to this if you’d like in the comments box below)

1. My house will stay clean for longer than 30 minutes. I’m going on 2 hours now, and my house is staying clean and clutter free!
2. I will no longer be out numbered by little people. *giggle* this was accomplished by 7:45am this morning!
3. I will be able to edit a session without being interupted 30 times to get juice, break up a fight, or wipe a tush – with only one child, I predict about 5 interuptions. LOL!
4. My two seated jogging stroller will no longer be weighed down by 3 kids.
5. I’ll be able to run up hill without stopping. (see #4 for explanation).
6. I might get to the bottom of my laundry hamper. done!
7. The sink might even resemble a sink instead of a double sided reservoir for dirty dishes. done!

I can’t help but play this video over and over in my head…. I love it! Everyone sing along!

I LOVE my children dearly, I truly do, but I am ready for the Pulver family chaos knob to be cranked down a few notches. Gavin and Ashton are ready and excited; I am excited for them. They have a wonderful set of teachers this year that are very nuturing, patient, and enthusiastic about this new year at our new school Chandler Oaks.

Go Chandler Oaks Cheetahs!!!

Such a Good Lil’ Model…. then Sometimes Not So Much ~ Round Rock Child Photographer

Found a neat location the other day… it’s simple without distractions but with a burst of turquoise color. I’m thinking of having September’s Sol Session at this location. My entire Merry and Bright Christmas card collection would coordinate perfectly with this. Sol Sessions are $500, but if priced out normally like a regular session, it’s value would be appx $1067 ($67 for the session fee, and $100 each for the 10 full editted digital files with a print release that you get). These types of mini-sessions are great when you want professional quality portraits, but want to control the number of prints you want to print out. Since you will have the digital files, you can print out as many portraits as you’d like. I have some great professional quality print & canvas labs that I can recommend that cater to the normal everyday consumer, so you won’t be stuck with a local chain store’s print quality.

Here is my Merry and Bright Holiday Card Collection. These are all 5×7 flat cards (backs of the cards are not shown). The backs of the cards are similiar to the fronts & this is where your own personal text will be.

Next Sol Session will be held SEPTEMBER 26th in the late afternoon/evening times. Interested in booking a Sol Session? Fill out the request form HERE.

A few weeks back I won two beautiful headbands by Shabby Rose through Brena Acuncius Photography blog. I just had to take Miss Teagan out to model her new pretty headband. (I need to take photos of the beautiful red clip; this day, I only got as far as the pink and chocolate brown rose one). And boy, did she put on a show for me. This girl was so cooporative (most photographer’s children are not; I’m sure there are several photogs out there that can atest to this). We danced around, rocked out our hips, and sang songs. She rocked it like America’s Next Top Model. I was so proud….

And just because I was in a grungy, dark, kind of mood when I was editting this photo, here is this one….. I like the edginess of it.

And then towards the end of our little session, the silliness came out, then the pouting, then the “look like Groucho Marx with a yellow party blower” look came out, along with the “look like you’re crazy with excitement holding the lip gloss” look…. oh yea, she’s got a whole range of looks!

Happy Monday Ya’ll! School startes tomorrow for us! I dont know who is more excited, me or the boys!

Visualize ~ Austin Family Photographer

vi·su·al·ize

1. To form a mental image of; envisage: tried to visualize the scene as it was described.
2. To make visible. To form a mental image.
3. To form a mental image of something that is not present.

So, you booked your session with Rae of Light Photography. You’ve choosen the clothing, the location, met with Rae, everyone survived the session with minimal meltdowns & lots of happy smiles. Rae notifies you that your gallery is complete, now the fun part begins, shopping!!!! You’ve looked at your portraits, you are in love! Rae captured your family perfectly & you’ve choosen your favorite portraits to display in your home. The hard part is over right? Not necessarily. Some clients have a difficult time knowing what SIZE portrait or canvas they need. Logic tells them, “hmmmmm…. I’ll just get a couple of 8x10s….” Visualizing your portraits on a wall can be very daunting for some. *I am re-vamping my home office with a ton of canvas prints, so I can relate to the indecisive mindset. I’m trying to figure out just HOW BIG I want to go.:)

Over the fireplace – an excellent use of space for a family portrait, but with an 8×10, not so much….

This 20×30 framed print works so much better in the space available. Your family’s portrait is now a focal point in the room, and commands attention. It’s not swallowed up by all the empty wall space.

A beautiful gallery hallway wall is another wonderful place to display family art…… either it’s a Big Ole’ FLOP….

Or it’s absolutely FABULOUS!!!

How about behind a livingroom sofa? This actually isn’t a bad set up….

But it doesn’t have the “Wow” factor that the display below has. What a conversation piece for people that walk into your home and see THIS! The portraits fill in the empty space and work with the sofa. In the above photo, the sofa wins, it dominates the space. The below set up of sofa and wall prints compliment each other.

Nonetheless, I am here to help! In-person consultations are always welcome (psst…. and they are covered as a part of your paid session fee). I know it is difficult to fit into everyone’s busy daily schedules; but please know, that I am here to help and will meet with you in your home to discuss your needs and desires to decorate your space with family portraits.
