MLK “play” Day ~ Austin Child Photographer

Yesterday, on Martin Luther King Day, my friend Mimi and I took the kids to Central Market and let them play on the huge playground.      We’ve been doing this for years; at times, my friend Amy (Mimi’s daughter in law) joins us and we make a day of it.     I have a ton of more photos to share, but these photos today are the ones that make me laugh the most.   After playing an hour or so, everyone started getting hungry.   Our food was ordered, but since it was busy that day, it took longer than usual for our buzzer to go off (ya know, that little hand-held square thingy that lights up to let you know that your food is ready?)    Anyways, while waiting, the kids were getting cranky, they were starving.   So as a distraction, I started belting out “Itsy-Bitsy Spider.”  Oh yea, I have no shame!  I would rather people around us look over at me in amusement, than look over and see 6 grumpy kids fussing and crying.    A few rounds later, we ended with “Twinkle Twinkle”  and I look over and one of our little boys has his hands on either side of his face, pulling the skin down revealing a scary look.  I asked him “What’s that face you’re doing?”   I was thinking it was because he was just hungry, but he replied “It’s my zombie face.”    So the zombie face caught on…. each child had to show me their zombie face.    I haven’t laughed so hard in a long time!
