Out of Office

I will be out of my office from Jan 16th – 18th for a maternity shoot in Dallas Texas. I will have limited access to email, so if you need to get a hold of me, please call me, (512) 632-9517.

Just for fun, I couldn’t help but post this image of my daughter Teagan. She refused to take a nap the other day, fought is tooth and nail. Finally at dinner, she just couldn’t fight it any longer. Amongst the buttered corn and ketchup, she passed out! My hubby thought it was mean of me to leave her there asleep at the table. I was like “Are you kidding, this is a photog’s dream, dont you dare move her!” ๐Ÿ™‚

That’s hilarious! Bless her heart!

Baby It’s Cold Outside ~ Round Rock Child Photographer

I know that Texas weather isn’t near as bad as what everyone is getting up North of us. I think the weatherman said the high in Chicago today is supposed to be -2 degrees. Nonetheless, we will be lucky to get above 34 degrees today, which for all purposes is cold, especially with two kids that are begging to go outside. With faces like this, I think I’m going to have to dress them up like eskimos and head out anyways.

What’s New in the News

I have a lot of new changes coming in 2009 for Rae of Light Photography. In fact, look who made the front page in the newpaper!

First and foremost, Rae of Light Photography’s pricing did not change! Whew! In fact, my fine art canvas print prices are reduced by 20%. Same outstanding quality, at a better price! One of the new and exciting features that I have been feverishly working on lately is a new shopping cart! Very exciting! ๐Ÿ™‚ On my Splash page, there are 3 images, the far left takes you here to the blog, the middle takes you to my website with my portfolios and session information, the far right image labeled “clients” will now take clients to their password protected gallery to place their orders. Additionally, Rae of Light Photography can now accept Visa, Mastercard, and Discover – oh so much eaiser!

My referral program is still in place. Being a small business, I rely heavily on word of mouth. I firmly believe in giving back to those that help me. So with each client you refer to Rae of Light that books a session, you get $20 in print credit.

I have changed the way that I retain my session fees. Instead of putting deposits down and then collecting the remainder of the session the day of your photo shoot, I have decided to have clients pay each session in full. This just makes it easier, and who isn’t for making things easier? Your session fee can be paid by check or once again, I can accept a credit card, and within minutes we can have your session booked. Then all that’s left is having fun on the day of your session.

I have some exciting new and revised Collections! La Luz (The Light) Collection, El Sol (The Sun) Collection, and El Rey (The King) Collection will allow your family to furnish your home with beautiful fine art canvas prints & wall portraits that will be cherished for many years. My new hand made leather bound portrait albums are exclusively offered through these collections. These gorgeous albums showcase your favorite 20 portraits from your photo shoot in either a 4×6 size or a 5×7 size. Also, by purchasing your portraits through a collection you get 20% off the a la carte price!

And by the way, I cant take credit for the fun photo above! A friend of mine, and fellow photographer Andrea Harris in Tennesse turned me on to a fun website called Photofunia. Check it out, it’s addicting.

My Girly Girl ~ Round Rock Child Photographer

Thanks to Mimi, Miss T has her very own makeup table. My husband has found her sitting at this very table at 7 in the mornings, just quietly putting on her “lipstick & blush.” Lord knows I’m going to have my hands full when she’s a teenager. I seriously dont know where she gets it either, I myself, hardly ever where makeup anymore. Most days my hair is thrown back into a ponytail and I wear jeans and sweatshirt with my Nike running shoes. (notice how Miss T has her princess heels on)?

Not soon after the above shot, my daughter Teagan, wanted to play outside. So with her heels on, purse, and cell phone (see it there on her hip), she heads out front to go walk her baby in the stroller. Even though the teen years make me a little nervous, I am loving every minute of this girly girl behavior (especially since I never thought I’d have a girl after having my two sons).

Round Rock Texas

The kids and I headed out to the park the other day. And as usual, I had my camera in hand ready for anything fun and exciting. And although I got a few fun shots of the kids, what amazed me more is the landscape and surroundings. For those of you that are not familiar with Round Rock Texas, it’s namesake comes from literally a round rock in the middle of a creek bed.

The Round Rock marked a low water wagon crossing in Brushy Creek. One hundred year old wagon ruts are still visible in the creek bottom.

Further down the creek, the kids enjoyed feeding the ducks and playing by the banks.
