Office Closed ~ Happy Holidays

My office will be closed the 24th and 25th. I will return calls and emails on Friday the 26th. Hope everyone has a safe and Happy Holiday.

Here are just a few random shots from this past week. The weather here has been so crazy lately, foggy one minute, then cold and drizzly the next. We’ve been doing lots of hot chocolate to help combat the cold weather! ๐Ÿ™‚

Holiday Traditions ~ Round Rock Child Photographer

For the past few days, the kids and I have been getting ready for Christmas. And with the weather being so cold, it’s nice to have some activities for the kids to do while being cooped up inside. I made some cranberry bread, and had a half a bag left, so I thought “I’ll have the kids make cranberry & popcorn garland.” I didn’t plan to be out of popcorn, and the idea of using movie theater butter microwave popcorn, just didn’t sound appealing. As a result, we just made cranberry garland. Improvise right? The kids had fun nonetheless!

My daugther wasn’t quite sure what to do. Although I showed her several times how to do it, she ended up most of the time, just watching her brothers.

My son had strung a few of the berries on, but ended up having more fun with just the sting.

Our next fun tradition was to make fudge! I made a big pan of it and topped it off with some sweet shredded coconut. And what’s not to love about licking the spoon?

And most nights, this is how you’ll find us, curled up on the couch. On this particular night we watched A Charlie Brown Christmas. Brings back memories of when I was a child and watched the very same movie.

And last, but not least, although NOT a Christmas tradition in the Pulver house, it’s too darn funny not to share. My son found my daughter’s binkini top and thought it was pretty funny!

My Letter to Santa

Dear Santa,

Hi, I’m Racheal with Rae of Light Photography. I have been a good girl all year! I only had a few newborns cry during my photo shoots, but I promise you it wasn’t my fault. Thankfully I haven’t had any adults cry during my sessions! LOL! I’m not asking for much, just one piece of yummy glass, the Canon 50mm, 1.2! I hear the bokeh on this lens is to die for. My hubby says to me often “damn this is an expensive occupation.” He just doesn’t realize how much I NEED this lens. OK, I dont need it, but I really really really really want it. I already have a 50mm, 1.8 and an 85mm, 1.8, but the 50mm, 1.2 would totally rock, way better than the two prime lens I have already. I run promotions all year long for my clients – free 8x10s with my sessions, 20% off my fine art canvas prints, $20 print credit for client referrals, Christmas mini-sessions. So, if you could find it in your heart, and make sure I’m on the “nice” list (sure dont want to be on the naughty side)LOL, I would appreciate it. By the way, here is a picture of this scrumptious lens!

Sincerely,

Rach

P.S. – I’d also love to have a 15mm, fisheye lens just for kicks and giggles! ๐Ÿ™‚

Here are a few other ideas, hint hint (ya you Mr. Pulver).

Gavin’s First Letter to Santa

Ok, well, maybe not his first, but the first one he ever wrote by himself! I’m so proud of him. Last night, we sat at the dinning room table together and talked about what he wanted for Christmas. Instead of spelling out the words for him, I made him sound it out and write it on his own. He has come so far….. just a few short months ago, he didn’t even know how to write his name, let alone write sentences! In some of the images, you can tell he was getting frustrated (hand on forehead picture), but he worked through it and finished.

I wanted to get a really good picture of his letter, but by the time he finished it, he wanted to immediately put it in an envelope and mail it to Santa. As a result, the only image I have of the entire letter is him being silly holding it over his mouth!

And for those of you who dont know how to read “Gavin” language, here is a translation:

Dear Santa,

I ben a good boe. (I have been a good boy)
Ples bring me a (Please bring me a)
Bicsl (Bicycle)
Rscr (Race Car)
Str Urs (Star Wars)
Legos (Legos, at least he spelled that one right)!

I hope all of you are experiencing the joys of Christmas! ๐Ÿ™‚

Jenny, it is so much fun to watch their little minds work.

Snuggly, Buggly

We have a saying in our house, “you wanna snuggly buggly?” And most of the time, my children say yes! We grab a big fluffy blanket and cuddle close on the couch. Momments like these, I treasure. So fast forward to this morning, I, in an effort to update my portrait, get all my camera equipment ready for a photo shoot for moi’. As I take portraits of myself, I understand why I enjoy being behind the camera, and not in front of it. I am my own worst critic, luckily, photoshop helps to remove some of the years off my face. Maybe one day, I will just accept the wrinkles, but for now, they’ll be softened a bit, so the blow of aging wont hurt so much.

As I was snapping away, my kids soon became interested in what I was doing. Most of the time, as with most photog’s children, they see the camera, and they run and hide. But with a little help from some snuggly soft blankies, they sat still and allowed me to take a few sweet portraits. Here are the images from our fun snuggly, buggly morning!

****REMINDER to those who still have not put their order in for Christmas, today is the last day!***
