2008 What an Amazing Year!

As 2008 comes to a close, I can’t help but think back at all the wonderful people I photographed this past year. For a brief moment, I get to be a first hand witness to each family’s life and love. And with each session, I come away with feeling more blessed than I did just a few hours before. I’ve had a chance to be a part of your pregnancies and be one of a special few that get to hold and cuddle your newborns. I have played with your children and laughed with the parents; I have witnessed the beginnings of an engagement, and the beginning of forever with the word “I do.” All these wonderful events that you’ve allowed me to be a part of – I feel so honored. Thank you!

To remember all these special times, I have made a movie of all my photo shoots from this past year.

Check back soon in the next few weeks for some great deals and promotions for Valentine’s Day coming up. And before you know it, it will be Bluebonnet season at the end of March/beginning of April – pictures in the bluebonnets – a Texas Tradition! I also wanted to let everyone know that I am working very diligently to get a shopping cart added to my website! This will make the entire print ordering process so much smoother. ๐Ÿ™‚

See you in 2009!

We tried to view the video on the “blog” page but can’t get it to open, tried 2 computers and downloaded Adobe flash player. Are we missing a plug-in?

Hey Deb, I just sent you a direct link to the slideshow movie. Sorry you were having problems getting it to work. Is anyone else having issues with seeing it?

You did an amazing job with our family! My favorite is the shot of the five “men” walking away! Can’t wait to see the rest. Happy New Year!

What a Fun Family ~ Sneak Peek for The H Family

I had the privilege this past weekend of photographing this wonderful family! I have known them for a long time, was roommates with their son in college. So when I was contacted to do a family session for them, I jumped at the chance. And boy, I was glad I did; I had so much fun. Although the weather was a bit cold and very windy, we made do, and I was able to capture some great family moments. This is the largest number of people in a family that I have photographed, and to be quite honest, I was a little nervous. But this family put my mind at ease and we laughed from start to finish. Thank you so much for such an amazing session! Cant wait to show you the rest of your portraits. But for now, here is a little sneak peek!

I just love how this little boy in the middle is looking up at all the tall men in the family.

And not to leave the girls out of their moment to shine! Look at all these beautiful women! ๐Ÿ™‚

And my fav! Just love the jumping portrait! Everyone with their own personal style, some high, some low, sooooo much fun!

I love those!

[…] – back when I was still playing around with my point and shoot camera! Last year, I photographed them and their extended family during a very windy and cold session. And now, I have the honor of capturing photos of this lovely […]

Office Closed ~ Happy Holidays

My office will be closed the 24th and 25th. I will return calls and emails on Friday the 26th. Hope everyone has a safe and Happy Holiday.

Here are just a few random shots from this past week. The weather here has been so crazy lately, foggy one minute, then cold and drizzly the next. We’ve been doing lots of hot chocolate to help combat the cold weather! ๐Ÿ™‚

Holiday Traditions ~ Round Rock Child Photographer

For the past few days, the kids and I have been getting ready for Christmas. And with the weather being so cold, it’s nice to have some activities for the kids to do while being cooped up inside. I made some cranberry bread, and had a half a bag left, so I thought “I’ll have the kids make cranberry & popcorn garland.” I didn’t plan to be out of popcorn, and the idea of using movie theater butter microwave popcorn, just didn’t sound appealing. As a result, we just made cranberry garland. Improvise right? The kids had fun nonetheless!

My daugther wasn’t quite sure what to do. Although I showed her several times how to do it, she ended up most of the time, just watching her brothers.

My son had strung a few of the berries on, but ended up having more fun with just the sting.

Our next fun tradition was to make fudge! I made a big pan of it and topped it off with some sweet shredded coconut. And what’s not to love about licking the spoon?

And most nights, this is how you’ll find us, curled up on the couch. On this particular night we watched A Charlie Brown Christmas. Brings back memories of when I was a child and watched the very same movie.

And last, but not least, although NOT a Christmas tradition in the Pulver house, it’s too darn funny not to share. My son found my daughter’s binkini top and thought it was pretty funny!

My Letter to Santa

Dear Santa,

Hi, I’m Racheal with Rae of Light Photography. I have been a good girl all year! I only had a few newborns cry during my photo shoots, but I promise you it wasn’t my fault. Thankfully I haven’t had any adults cry during my sessions! LOL! I’m not asking for much, just one piece of yummy glass, the Canon 50mm, 1.2! I hear the bokeh on this lens is to die for. My hubby says to me often “damn this is an expensive occupation.” He just doesn’t realize how much I NEED this lens. OK, I dont need it, but I really really really really want it. I already have a 50mm, 1.8 and an 85mm, 1.8, but the 50mm, 1.2 would totally rock, way better than the two prime lens I have already. I run promotions all year long for my clients – free 8x10s with my sessions, 20% off my fine art canvas prints, $20 print credit for client referrals, Christmas mini-sessions. So, if you could find it in your heart, and make sure I’m on the “nice” list (sure dont want to be on the naughty side)LOL, I would appreciate it. By the way, here is a picture of this scrumptious lens!

P.S. – I’d also love to have a 15mm, fisheye lens just for kicks and giggles! ๐Ÿ™‚

Here are a few other ideas, hint hint (ya you Mr. Pulver).
