Elfie Rojo’s Mischeif

Our little Elfie has been a very busy little Elf! Here are just some of the shenanigans he’s been up to lately!

COOLEST MOM EVER! saw this on pinterest. I got elf on the shelf last year after christmas, and I can’t wait to break him out. Your ideas are amazing! Thanks!

Andrea (PARENTise) - October 7, 2011 - 3:20 am

I love this! I struggle finding ways to use the elf – so this year we have a whole new list of amazing things to do with him! Thanks so much for sharing!

Barbara - October 7, 2011 - 3:02 pm

Brittany - October 7, 2011 - 3:48 pm

LOVE! Your ideas are amazing! Thank you for sharing, this year our “Elfie” is gonna get in to some trouble!

KC - October 7, 2011 - 5:15 pm

I love this idea!! Your children will always remember this!Where did you get your elf?

KC - October 7, 2011 - 5:16 pm

I think it’s the Disney elf on shelf? So cute!

Rae Pulver - October 7, 2011 - 7:15 pm

I bought my little elf from the Elf on the Shelf website. You wouldn’t have to buy this particular one, any elf would work, but this one comes with a nifty book that explains why the elf has come to your house. And every year, on the first day that Elfie shows up (Dec. 1st), we read it. 🙂

Salena - October 9, 2011 - 10:34 am

I love this idea! Thank you for your creativity, and for sharing these beautiful pictures – it’s inspiring 🙂

valerie - October 9, 2011 - 5:01 pm

My family has had elves for 49 years, long before the book came out. Ours always showed up Dec 1 and leave Christmas Eve with Santa. Each night our elves would come alive and play and hide for us to find them along with a treat as long as we were good, if not then after 3 nights without treats we thought Santa would not come, somehow we always seemed to be good for the month of December. We now have elves for our grandsons. They are the 3rd generation to experience the magic of the Christmas Elf.

Alicia - October 10, 2011 - 7:38 pm

Thanks so much for all the wonderful ideas … I was needing some new shenanigans for our elf this Christmas season.

Michelle - October 16, 2011 - 6:34 pm

LOVE your ideas! I am totally getting an elf on the shelf for this year (I have been meaning to purchase one for the past several years but your awesome ideas have encouraged me)!

abbey - October 24, 2011 - 3:19 pm

Brandi - October 24, 2011 - 4:06 pm

What do you do with your elf when he is some where you need to touch him (like on your steering wheel) Isn’t part of the story that you can’t touch him?

Sara - November 5, 2011 - 1:42 pm

LOVE LOVE LOVE LOVE LOVE- painted noses is awesome. Oh to be a child again. i hope to make my children’s Christmas memories as whimsical as you have for yours! I have done elf on the shelf for my Pre-k class last year, but looking forward to doing it at home as well 🙂

What is that photo process you ran on the first two photographs that makes it look like an impressionist painting?

I’d like to know also about the no touching rule… The book I read to the kids says you’re not allowed to touch him, but I see so many great ideas where it would be almost impossible not to touch or move him. Do you just not read the book and touch him anyways?

Tracy - November 10, 2011 - 3:58 pm

Okay. I’m am LOVING all of the fun things Elfie Rojo did at your house last year. I think our Percy is going to have to amp it up a little this year. Thanks so much for posting all of these great pics and ideas. The red noses is especially priceless! Glad to have found your blog through “Come Together Kids”

Rae Pulver - November 10, 2011 - 5:24 pm

The kids are not allowed to touch Elfie. However, if the case where Elfie does need to be moved, I move him, but only Momma is allowed to do it. The day Elfie was in the truck on my steering wheel, he was gently moved by me to the dash above the steering wheel. The day Elfie made snow angels on the table, he actually stayed on the table amoungst the mess. The kids and I just used the other half of the table that day.

Lorrie - November 28, 2011 - 2:01 am

So cute! Question though…did you pull your elf’s hands apart? Ours cam sewn together. And how do you get them to stay put? For example, on his mouth in the Rudolph pic? LOVE your ideas!!!

Great ideas. Thanks. My neices elf was in the tree last year and the tree fell, so they picked up the tree and reset it in the base and put all the ornaments back. My brother picked the elf up with a pair of tongs and put the elf back in the tree. Great idea that worked for them.

Shar - December 14, 2011 - 12:37 am

Hi, ok, so this is unrelated to the elf, but in the picture where the elf is on the curtain rod, what is your wall textured with? I really love it!

Twila - December 14, 2011 - 4:39 pm

Absolutely love the reindeer noses! So adorable! Did they get paint all over their pillows though?

Lisa - December 16, 2011 - 6:41 am

What did you use to paint noses? Love all the ideas. Thanks so much!

What’s On Our Shelf This Christmas? - December 19, 2011 - 2:52 am

[…] If you haven’t heard of it, you can check out the Elf on the Shelf official website, or check out some fun Elf pictures here. […]

Rae Pulver - December 19, 2011 - 10:52 pm

Twila, I painted their noses fairly early in the morning that way the paint would be on their noses all night and them rolling around wiping it off. I used regular some old scrapbooking paint and tried not to go too far overboard so that it would cover, but be light enough of a coat to dry fast.

Rae Pulver - December 19, 2011 - 10:52 pm

Shar, that is actually a post processing effect that I did on that photo. It’s a painterly type processing; sure does make the walls look awesome. Wish they looked that way in real life.

M.O.T.B - December 22, 2011 - 8:19 pm

LOVE THESE! Super cute!

Dawn: our elf left a note two nights before, went missing the night before and showed up at Disney! The kids were so excited! We repeated the note & disappearing act when we left. The notes said our elf was going to spend some extra days helping Santa. And when he showed up at Disney the note said Santa gave him a vacation so he decided to attend Mickey’s Christmas party .

Bernadette - December 2, 2012 - 11:29 pm

I bought an Elf for my sister who is single with no children and spends the Christmas month feeling a little bit left out, as she lives on her own. I have enlisted the help of my mum and my girlfriend to ensure that the Elf is moved each day, whilst she is at work. I am hoping this helps to bring some christmas cheer to her. PS – I don’t have a key to her house cos she borrowed it back for someone……so I am not going to get the blame for Elf’s behaviour!!

Sara - December 22, 2012 - 12:35 am

Joining the love your amazing ideas (and fantastic photos!) chorus! We’ve been running out of ideas and this helps these last few nights! Thank you! However, I’m also curious about his hands… Did you take them apart? And how do you get him to pose with them so darn cute?! Our elf is actually going on strike tonight due to some uh, spirited? (Ha!) behavior on my boys part. Hope it helps! 🙂

Where did you guys get the elf look need one for my children. I need help what should I get my little girl for her birthday it is a weak away from today. aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa

Rae Pulver - February 8, 2014 - 6:38 pm

If you Google Elf on the Shelf the website should come right up. Some people choose to just purchase any Christmas elf and use that for their fun. Either way, the kids will love it!

Rae Pulver - April 14, 2014 - 5:37 pm

Hi Sheena! In the rare times that our lil’ Elfie Rojo is in a spot that makes it tough to do our daily activities, I have told my children that only Mommy can move Elfie with a pair of kitchen tongs. They seem to be ok with it and know that only Mommy can do it. 🙂 Have fun with your 3 year old!
